FAQs
What do I need to bring?
We will provide all the equipment that you need for your surf lesson. We just ask that you bring along some swimwear, a towel/changing robe, and some water for before and after. Depending on the weather, you may need to bring waterproof suncream or some additional warm layers for after the lesson (there is often a coffee van just a stones throw away who can help you warm up with hot chocolates!).
Where are you based/where do we meet for our lesson?
It’s hard to miss us! We’re based in Sandymere Car Park on the Northam Burrows, Westward Ho! We’re never far from the walkway on the Pebbleridge which is where the RNLI lifeguard hut is positioned. Look out for our unique converted horsebox!
What is the minimum age for a surf lesson?
For group lessons, the minimum age is 8 years old. For private lessons, we can take children as young as 6 years old. There is no maximum age!
When are your lessons?
Westward Waves Surf School is open from Easter holidays through to the first week of November. Lesson times are tailored to suit the tide times at Westward Ho! beach and therefor they change each day. Our booking system should guide you to a time that suits you, however, if you’re unsure then give us a ring!
Why choose Westward Waves Surf School?
We’re a small, friendly team who like to make everyone feel welcome. Whether they are on a performance board and looking to improve their cutback or they are giving it a go for their first time. Being a small team allows us to tailor the sessions to each individual and allow them to get the most from each session. We’re lucky to have had a number of surfers return to us each season to keep on improving and we feel this gives a great sense of community here at our school. Why not join us!
